Seven-colour utility set

The DIYSELF pack supplies seven folding knives in distinct colours, each fitted with an SK5 steel blade that locks open automatically. The lightweight plastic handles weigh roughly two ounces and include a pocket clip, making the set practical for workers, electricians, decorators and hobbyists who need a sharp edge close at hand.

Thermals noise and power draw

As a purely manual cutting tool the knives generate no heat, no noise and draw no power during normal use. The plastic handles stay at ambient temperature and the back-lock mechanism operates silently, so the only effort required comes from the user's hand.

Sustained load behaviour

Under continuous cutting of cardboard, carpet, leather or similar materials the SK5 blades retain their hardness and edge without overheating. The folding action remains reliable because the lock engages on every opening, and the quick-change button allows a fresh blade to be fitted in seconds when the edge eventually dulls.

Questions about this item

How do I unfold and lock the knife, and what is the step people forget?

Pull the scabbard away from the handle; the blade locks automatically. To close, press the tail of the silver metal strip on the back of the handle.

Which blades fit the quick-change system and how often will I need spares?

The knives use SK5 steel 9 mm blades. Press the silver button on the scabbard to swap them. Replace when the edge dulls from cutting cardboard, carpet, vinyl or rope.

What fails first when I use the knives all day on tough materials?

The SK5 steel blade edge dulls before the plastic handle or back-lock mechanism wears out.
