Hypoallergenic Liquid Fabric Softener

Downy Free & Gentle is a hypoallergenic liquid fabric softener formulated without dyes or perfumes for people with sensitive skin. The 140 fl oz bottle provides up to 190 loads and is safe for all washing machines, including high-efficiency models. It is dermatologist-tested and septic safe.

Fiber Protection Over Repeated Washes

The conditioning agent smooths and strengthens fibers to reduce friction during agitation and spinning. This action helps prevent fiber breakage that leads to pilling and fuzz while helping clothes retain their shape and colour through many cycles. The formula contains no bleach, chlorine or parabens.

Upgrade From Scented or Dye-Based Softeners

Households experiencing irritation from fragranced or coloured conditioners can switch to this unscented alternative without losing softening performance. It replaces products that leave chemical residues on fabrics. Buyers who want a scented softener or a smaller bottle for limited storage should choose a different product.

Questions about this item

Does the 140 fl oz bottle of Downy Free & Gentle create fumes or heat when used daily in a standard washer?

The liquid softener is unscented, dye-free and formulated without bleach, chlorine or ammonia, so it adds no noticeable odour or heat during regular wash cycles.

What washing-machine feature must I have to use this 190-load fabric conditioner?

A fabric-softener dispenser drawer or an agitator opening is required; the product is safe for all machine types including high-efficiency models.

Will the hypoallergenic formula work with older top-load washers that lack a dedicated softener compartment?

Yes, you can pour the measured amount directly into the agitator or during the final rinse, and the septic-safe, dye-free formula is compatible with older machines.
