This Drill America bit is a high-speed steel accessory built for heavy-duty drilling tasks. It features a 1/2in reduced shank with three flats to prevent slipping in the chuck. The split-point design helps the bit start on contact and reduces walking. Overall length measures 6in with a 3in flute length.

Suits large-hole drilling in metal.

This bit suits users drilling 1-3/16in holes in metal stock using a 1/2in capacity chuck. The decimal equivalent is 1.1875in. It is not for jobs requiring smaller diameters, longer reach, or different shank configurations. Builders needing other sizes should look at different bits.

Questions about this item

What size drill chuck is required for the 1/2in shank on this bit?

The bit uses a 1/2in reduced shank with three flats, so it fits any drill chuck that accepts a 1/2in shank diameter.

How do you seat the 3-flat shank correctly in a keyed chuck to prevent slipping?

Tighten each jaw onto one of the three flats rather than the rounded portions, then re-check alignment before drilling.
