Drill America #23 Cobalt Aircraft Extension Bit

The Drill America #23 Cobalt Aircraft Extension Drill Bit measures 12 inches overall with a flute length of 2 inches. Its cobalt steel construction resists heat and wear when drilling hard metals. The heavy-duty split point reduces walking and starts holes cleanly. This extension bit suits maintenance tasks that require extra reach in confined spaces.

Heat noise and power in normal use

The cobalt alloy dissipates cutting heat efficiently during extended drilling cycles. Hand-held operation keeps vibration and sound at levels typical for aircraft extension bits. No external power supply or motor specifications apply to this accessory. Users should match feed pressure to material hardness for consistent performance.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 12in #23 cobalt drill bit into my drill chuck, and what step is often missed?

Insert the straight shank fully into the chuck jaws, then tighten securely; the step often missed is verifying the bit runs true before drilling.

When will the #23 cobalt aircraft extension bit need replacement, and what indicates it?

Replace when the split point no longer centres cleanly or the .1540 diameter holes become oversized; cobalt steel extends life but dulls with heavy use.
