5/8 inch HSS KFD drill bit with 3-flat shank

The Drill America KFD (Killer Force) drill bit is made from high-speed steel and features a heavy-duty split-point tip. Its 1/2 inch reduced shank includes three flats to prevent slipping in a chuck. This accessory is suited for demanding metal-drilling tasks in automotive and industrial workshops.

Practical limits of the 1/2 inch reduced shank

The 1/2 inch shank diameter restricts use to chucks that accept this size or larger. The split-point geometry reduces walking at the start of a hole, but the overall length of 6 inches limits reach in deep cavities. Buyers needing longer reach or a smaller shank for tighter chucks will require a different bit.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 5/8 inch KFD bit or a smaller size for my 1/2 inch chuck?

The 5/8 inch bit has a reduced 1/2 inch shank with three flats that locks securely in a standard 1/2 inch chuck, so you can use this large diameter without a larger chuck.

What does the 6250 decimal equivalent mean when I am drilling?

The 6250 decimal equivalent is the exact 5/8 inch diameter expressed in thousandths, letting you match the hole size precisely to bolt or reamer specifications.
