59/64in Cobalt Stub Drill Bit

This 59/64in cobalt stub drill bit meets Aerospace Standard 907 for heavy-duty use. The short, rugged construction suits portable or machine drilling in iron and steel families. It is built for automotive and construction tasks where spindle clearance is limited.

135-degree split point upgrade

The 135-degree split point is self-centering and reduces thrust compared with the 118-degree standard point found on sizes outside the 1/16in to 1/2in range. The jump is worth it when drilling harder materials or when a shorter drill length improves rigidity and hole accuracy.

Fits tight-spindle setups

The stub length frees up spindle clearance in screw-machine setups and compact drill presses. It needs a chuck that accepts a 59/64in shank and works best with rigid, low-runout holders. Buyers who need deeper holes or larger diameters should look for longer series bits.

Questions about this item

What size chuck does the 59/64 inch drill bit require?

The bit has a 59/64 inch diameter, so it needs a chuck that opens to at least that size.

How do I start the hole correctly with the 135 degree split point?

Apply steady pressure on centre; the self-centering split point prevents wandering without a centre punch.

When should I replace this cobalt stub drill bit?

Replace it when the cutting edges dull or chip, as the 135 degree point can no longer self-centre effectively.
