Carbide-tipped masonry bit drills brick, concrete and sandstone with 18-inch reach and 118-degree point
The Drill America DAM18X3/4 is a carbide-tipped masonry drill bit built for professionals and DIY users who need to bore deep holes in brick, concrete or sandstone. Its 18-inch overall length and 3/4-inch cutting diameter suit anchor-screw, expansion-shield and toggle-bolt installations in structural work.
As a non-powered accessory the bit generates no electrical noise and draws no power from the drill motor beyond the mechanical load of cutting. Heat at the carbide tip is managed by the wide spiral flutes that eject dust quickly, reducing friction buildup during extended use in softer masonry.
The black oxide coating adds corrosion resistance and reduces galling when the bit runs in a portable electric drill. The 1/2-inch round shank fits standard three-jaw chucks without adapters, and the 118-degree conventional point centres the hole cleanly so anchors seat flush.

Open the chuck fully, insert the 1/2" round shank straight, then tighten securely; the common mistake is not seating the shank deep enough, which causes wobble and premature carbide wear.
The carbide tip cannot be sharpened easily; replace the bit once the tip dulls or chips from drilling brick, concrete or sandstone, as continued use overheats the steel body.
Heat buildup in the steel body behind the carbide tip becomes the limiting factor; wide flutes remove dust quickly, but prolonged use in hard concrete still transfers heat faster than the bit can dissipate it.
