Carbide-tipped masonry bit with 18" reach and 118° point drills brick, concrete and sandstone
The Drill America DAM18X7/8 is a carbide-tipped masonry drill bit built for use in portable electric drills. Its 18-inch overall length reaches deep holes in brick, concrete and sandstone. The 118-degree conventional point starts cleanly in hard surfaces. This accessory suits tradespeople and DIY users who need extended reach for anchor installations.
A black oxide finish protects the steel body from corrosion during storage and on-site use. Wide spiral flutes are engineered to remove dust quickly in softer masonry materials. Carbide tips are brazed to the body and cut slightly larger than the nominal 7/8-inch size. This clearance helps anchor screws, expansion shields and toggle bolts fit without binding.
The 1/2-inch round shank fits standard three-jaw drill chucks but cannot transmit high torque like a hex or SDS shank. Heavy hammer-drill impact may cause the bit to slip in the chuck during deep-hole work. Users drilling reinforced concrete or dense aggregate should expect slower progress and increased wear on the carbide tip. The bit is not designed for SDS-plus or SDS-max rotary hammer systems.

The carbide tip is brazed to the steel body and cannot be replaced separately; the entire bit is replaced once the tip wears down from drilling brick, concrete or sandstone.
Heat buildup in the carbide tip and steel body is the first limit; wide flutes help clear dust, but sustained use in hard masonry will require pauses to let the bit cool.
Noise and heat come mainly from the drill motor and hammer action; the black-oxide finish reduces friction, but the bit itself adds no measurable power draw or sound.
