24" carbide-tipped masonry bit with 1/4" round shank and 118° point drills brick, concrete and sandstone
The Drill America DAM24X1/4 is a carbide-tipped masonry drill bit built for portable electric drills. It targets installers and tradespeople who need deep holes in brick, concrete or sandstone for anchor screws, expansion shields or toggle bolts. The 24 inch overall length reaches through thick walls or layered substrates. The black oxide finish adds corrosion resistance on the job site.
Wide spiral flutes clear debris quickly in softer masonry so the bit runs cooler and stays on centre. The carbide tip is brazed to a tough steel body and ground to an 118 degree conventional point for reliable starting. Because the tip diameter exceeds the nominal size, holes provide clearance for hardware without binding during insertion.
Carbide construction resists wear during long runs in abrasive aggregate, keeping hole diameter consistent from start to finish. The round shank transmits torque without slipping in standard drill chucks. California Proposition 65 warnings apply: the product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Insert the round shank fully into the chuck and tighten all three jaws evenly so the bit runs true; the common mistake is leaving the shank short or tightening on only two jaws, which causes wobble in the 24" length.
The carbide tip cannot be resharpened economically; once the cutting edges dull from brick, concrete or sandstone the bit is replaced.
Heat buildup in the 24" steel body softens the braze joint before the carbide wears, so pause to let the bit cool during deep holes.
