Product Identity

This Drill America counterbore pilot measures 7/8 inch outer diameter with a 5/16 inch shank. It belongs to a two-piece counterboring system where the pilot interchanges with the cutter body. The component is supplied new and carries California Proposition 65 warnings for cancer and reproductive harm.

Fit and Exclusions

Machinists who need a replaceable pilot for existing Drill America counterbore cutters will find the correct dimensions here. Buyers who want a complete counterbore tool with cutter included should look elsewhere because this listing covers only the pilot portion.

Deciding Specification

The critical specification is the 5/16 inch shank diameter that must match the counterbore cutter's pilot hole. If your cutter accepts a different shank size this pilot will not fit and the job cannot proceed.

Questions about this item

What shank diameter does the 7/8" counterbore pilot require?

The pilot fits a 5/16" shank on the matching counterbore cutter.

How is the pilot secured during installation, and what step is often missed?

Insert the pilot into the cutter body and tighten the set screw fully; skipping the screw allows the pilot to spin loose.

When should the pilot be replaced to maintain accurate counterbores?

Replace it when the tip shows visible wear or the counterbore depth becomes inconsistent.
