Solid carbide jobber drill bit for abrasive materials with 118° point and 2.5" length
The Drill America DMOD bit is a solid carbide jobber drill with a 5/32 inch diameter and 2.5 inch overall length. It features an 118 degree conventional point, round shank and spiral flutes. The uncoated bright finish suits general-purpose drilling in abrasive or high-temperature conditions.
Solid carbide construction maintains cutting geometry and dimensional accuracy during extended drilling cycles. The material resists wear when machining cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-silicon aluminium, copper, plastics, bronze, hard rubber and plexiglass. Flute length of 1-3/8 inch supports chip evacuation in deeper holes.
This bit replaces standard high-speed steel jobber drills when abrasion or heat degrades tool life quickly. The jump is justified for production runs in abrasive composites or non-ferrous metals where frequent re-sharpening of HSS would interrupt workflow. It is not suited for handheld drilling in soft steel or wood where carbide brittleness increases breakage risk.

Solid carbide tolerates high temperature drilling better than high-speed steel, so it maintains accuracy during extended use on cast iron and non-ferrous alloys.
The bit has a plain round shank matching the 5/32 inch drill diameter, so it fits any standard drill chuck or collet that accepts that size.
The 118 degree conventional point is a general-purpose geometry that works with typical drill press speeds used for metal and plastic.
