A high-speed steel annular cutter with a 3/4" Weldon shank and pilot pin for magnetic drill presses
This Drill America high-speed steel annular cutter is built for use with magnetic drill presses only. The 3/4" Weldon shank fits compatible mag-drill machines and must not be used in a standard hand drill or bench press. It suits metalworkers who need fast, clean hole production in structural steel and plate.
High-speed steel construction gives a balance of hardness and toughness that resists wear during extended cutting cycles. The cutter removes only the material at the hole perimeter, reducing the torque and heat load on the machine compared with twist drills. No noise or power-draw figures are published for this accessory.
A pilot pin is supplied to centre the cutter and eject the slug after each cut, speeding up repetitive drilling and improving hole accuracy. The pin also helps start the cut cleanly on flat surfaces. No additional software, coolant system or mounting hardware is bundled with this item.

Insert the cutter into the magnetic drill press arbor until the Weldon shank flats engage the set screws, then tighten both screws evenly; the step often missed is inserting the supplied pilot pin through the cutter’s centre hole before locking the shank, otherwise the slug cannot eject.
Resharpen the high-speed steel cutting edges when they dull, and replace the pilot pin if its tip wears down or bends, because a damaged pin prevents proper centring and slug ejection.
Heat buildup in the high-speed steel body is the first limit; without adequate cutting fluid the cutter loses hardness, so pause between holes and apply coolant to maintain tool life.
