Charger and eight AAA cells

The Powerex C980 smart charger ships with eight Duracell DX2400 AAA NiMH batteries rated at 900 mAh. The bundle suits households, photographers and anyone who runs multiple AAA devices and wants a single charger that handles one to eight cells at once.

Independent slots and selectable modes

Eight independent channels let you mix AA and AAA cells without waiting for a full set. Turbo mode charges AAA cells at 1.0 A for about 60 minutes; default mode uses 0.5 A for roughly 120 minutes. A conditioning mode helps restore older packs. The ninth-generation MH-NM7108 microprocessor manages each slot separately, so a faulty cell does not stop the others.

Check your devices and outlets

Verify that your gear accepts 1.2 V NiMH cells; some equipment expects 1.5 V alkaline voltage and may show low-battery warnings early. The charger operates on 100-240 V AC 50-60 Hz, so it works worldwide with only a plug adapter. Ensure you have a free mains socket and space for the charger’s footprint before ordering.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the C980 charger is operating correctly once I plug it in?

The ninth-generation MH-NM7108 microprocessor controls each of the eight independent slots; when a battery is inserted the slot indicator shows the active charge mode and completes a Turbo cycle in about 60 minutes or a Default cycle in about 120 minutes.

What comes in the box with the C980 and what must I supply myself?

The package includes the Powerex C980 smart charger and eight Duracell AAA 900 mAh NiMH batteries pre-charged on two cards of four; you only need a standard AC outlet delivering 100-240 V 50-60 Hz.

Should I choose the Turbo or Default charge setting for these 900 mAh AAA cells?

Turbo mode charges at 1.0 A and finishes in roughly 60 minutes, while Default mode charges at 0.5 A and takes about 120 minutes; both are safe for the included NiMH cells, so select Turbo for speed or Default for gentler charging.
