7.4 V 2600 mAh lithium-ion pack

This 7.4 V lithium-ion battery pack contains two 18650 cells in series and delivers 2600 mAh of capacity. An on-board protection IC guards against over-charge above 8.4 V, over-discharge below 5.5 V and short circuits. A 4.2 A polyswitch limits peak discharge current. The module is wrapped in PVC shrink and fitted with 18 G wire leads for direct soldering.

Replaces loose 18650 cells

The pack replaces hand-wired pairs of 18650 cells that lack integrated protection circuitry. The jump is worth it when a project needs a ready-made 7.4 V source with built-in safeguards and a compact 2.8 by 1.45 by .8 inch form factor. It is not suited for applications that require higher voltage, greater capacity or user-replaceable cells.

Sustained load behaviour

Under continuous draw the 4.2 A polyswitch caps output current, so loads that exceed this limit will see voltage sag or shutdown. The protection IC maintains cell balance and prevents damage during prolonged discharge down to the 5.5 V cut-off. Recharging at the recommended 1 A rate restores full capacity without stressing the chemistry, while the 2.5 A maximum rate shortens cycle life if used regularly.
