Dual-port charger for Dewalt 7.2–18V NiCd/NiMH

This charger replaces the Dewalt DC9310, DW9116, DW9226, DW9118 and DC9319 units. It accepts 7.2 V, 9.6 V, 12 V, 14.4 V and 18 V nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal-hydride batteries including XRP packs. It is not compatible with lithium-ion cells.

Dual-port charging cuts downtime

Two battery slots operate simultaneously so both packs reach full charge in one hour or less for a 4.0 Ah Type 1 XRP battery. Universal 100 V–240 V input allows use on any mains supply without a separate adapter. The design helps extend overall battery lifespan through controlled charging.

Compact unit with fixed mains lead

The housing is built for workshop bench use and carries a non-detachable power cord. No mounting brackets or hanging points are provided so the charger sits flat on a bench or shelf. Connectors are keyed to Dewalt slide-style packs ensuring correct polarity every time.

Questions about this item

Will the dual charging ports wear out and need replacement after heavy use?

The charger uses solid-state electronics with no moving parts in the ports, so there are no mechanical contacts to wear out; the unit itself is the only replaceable item.

What stops the 3.0A output from running continuously when both ports are loaded?

The 3.0A rating is the maximum total current shared between the two ports, so simultaneous charging splits the current and the internal thermal protection limits sustained output.

How hot does the case get when charging two 4.0Ah XRP packs back-to-back all day?

The 100-240V input design runs warm but stays within normal operating temperature; the built-in fan and vented housing dissipate heat during continuous dual-port charging.
