Wide-Angle Prime for Leica M

The DZOFILM Thypoch Ksana 21mm f/3.5 is a compact manual-focus lens built for Leica M-mount rangefinder cameras. It covers full-frame sensors with a fast wide-angle perspective suited to landscape, street, and architectural photography. Weighing approximately 131g, it offers a lightweight option for daily carry. The lens delivers modern optical precision alongside a distinctive vintage flare character.

Vintage Flare Character Upgrade

This lens introduces Epoch 73 coating designed to produce warm amber flares reminiscent of 1970s cinema lenses. Photographers moving from clinically corrected modern glass gain a creative tool that renders expressive highlights and striking sunstars at f/4. The jump is worth it when the goal is a cinematic look straight from the camera rather than added in post. Its 8-element, 6-group design with ED, HRI, and aspherical elements controls aberrations while preserving that signature aesthetic.

Compact Build for Rangefinder Systems

The all-metal barrel measures 19.7 inches minimum focus distance and features scalloped focus and aperture rings for tactile manual control. A 9-blade iris creates clean, rounded bokeh across the f/3.5 to f/22 range. It fits directly on Leica M bodies without adapters, leaving the hot shoe free for viewfinders or meters. Buyers needing autofocus, electronic aperture coupling, or weather sealing should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the 21mm focal length need an adapter on Leica M bodies?

No adapter is required; the lens uses a native Leica M mount so it attaches directly to any M-mount rangefinder or mirrorless camera.

What is the common focusing mistake with the manual ring at 19.7 inches?

Shooters often overshoot the minimum focus distance; turn the scalloped ring slowly past 0.5 m and confirm focus visually before recomposing.

When should the Epoch 73 coating be cleaned to keep amber flares intact?

Clean only when visible dust or smudges affect image contrast; use a blower first, then a microfibre cloth with minimal pressure to preserve the coating.
