Eaton 4771N locking plug pack

This pack contains four Eaton 4771N straight-blade locking plugs rated at 15 amps and 277 volts. Each plug accepts conductors from 16 to 12 AWG and uses a phenolic body for durability. The NEMA L7-15 configuration provides two poles and three wires with an auto-grip locking action. They are intended for industrial-grade power connections.

Who should use these plugs

Electricians and maintenance teams wiring 277 V equipment in factories, warehouses or commercial buildings will find the locking design secure and the back-wiring method fast. Buyers who need a different voltage, amperage or NEMA pattern should select another device. The pack of four suits jobs requiring multiple identical terminations.

Deciding specification — NEMA L7-15 rating

The single detail that determines fit is the NEMA L7-15 rating of 15 A at 277 V. Only cordsets or inlets built to the same L7-15 pattern will lock correctly, so verify the mating device before ordering.

Questions about this item

How does the 15 A rating work once the plug is wired into a machine?

The 15 A rating means the plug can carry up to 15 amps continuously when correctly wired to 16-12 AWG conductors and mated with a matching L7-15 receptacle.

What does the NEMA L7-15 designation limit in practice?

NEMA L7-15 defines a 2-pole 3-wire locking configuration rated 15 A at 277 V, so it only fits L7-15 receptacles and caps voltage at 277 V.

What cable diameter range fits the back-wiring terminals?

The back-wiring terminals accept cables with an outer diameter between 0.33 and 0.66 in, matching 16-12 AWG wire sizes.
