Gold wireless mouse for office and casual gaming

This gold wireless optical mouse uses a 2.4 GHz USB receiver for plug-and-play connectivity up to 15 metres away. It runs on two AAA batteries that are not included. The MX8650 sensor tracks at 28 IPS with a 3000 FPS refresh rate. Six buttons include a scroll wheel and dedicated page-turning keys.

Adjustable DPI and six-button layout

Three selectable resolutions of 800, 1200 and 1600 DPI let you match cursor speed to the task. The extra page-turning buttons simplify document navigation and web browsing without extra software. Lightweight construction makes it easy to carry between workstations.

2.4 GHz USB receiver and AAA power

The mouse requires a free USB-A port for the included 2.4 GHz dongle and two AAA cells for operation. Buyers whose devices only offer USB-C or who prefer rechargeable built-in batteries should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How often will I need to replace the two AAA batteries that power the mouse?

Battery life depends on daily usage and the 28 IPS tracking speed you select; heavier use at 1600 DPI will drain the cells faster than light use at 800 DPI.

What is the first limit I will hit during long gaming sessions with the MX8650 sensor?

The sensor tops out at 28 IPS and 3000 FPS, so very fast swipes beyond that speed will stop tracking accurately before anything else overheats.

Does the 2.4 GHz wireless link add noticeable heat or noise when the mouse runs all day?

The optical sensor and 2.4 GHz transceiver draw very little power, so the body stays cool and there are no moving parts to create audible noise.
