Starter Kit with micro:bit Board
The Elecfreaks micro:bit Starter Kit includes the BBC micro:bit programmable board and a transparent breadboard measuring 83 by 55 mm. It supplies basic electronic components such as LEDs, a button, a buzzer and a temperature sensor for circuit and programming experiments. The bundle also provides a TowerPro SG-90 mini servo rated at 1.6 kg, a battery holder for two AA cells and a MicroB USB cable. It is aimed at beginners entering electronics and coding.
Classroom components and power
The kit contains 65 breadboard jumper wires, five RGB diffused LEDs and five each of red, blue, yellow and green LEDs. Resistors include ten 100 Ohm and ten 10K Ohm units plus a 10K trimpot. Switches comprise two momentary pushbuttons and one self-lock switch. A mini speaker, a photocell, a TMP36 temperature sensor and five alligator clip wires complete the set for low-voltage classroom use.
Sustained project use
Components are rated for typical educational workloads rather than continuous industrial operation. The servo, sensors and LEDs operate from the supplied 5 V supply via the micro:bit board or battery holder. No active cooling is included so extended high-current driving of the servo or multiple LEDs should be monitored for temperature rise. The breadboard layout supports repeated reconfiguration for iterative learning.

Questions about this item
How do I connect the micro:bit board to the breadboard using the included adapter?
Align the micro:bit edge connector with the adapter pins and press firmly until seated, then plug the adapter into the 83 by 55 mm breadboard.
Which parts in the kit are most likely to need replacement after repeated classroom use?
The 65 jumper wires, 5 RGB LEDs and 10 each of the red, blue, yellow and green LEDs are the consumable items that wear out first.
What is the maximum load the included TowerPro SG-90 servo can handle before it stalls?
The servo is rated for 1.6 kg of torque, so sustained loads above that will cause it to stall.
