Cardioid dynamic vocal microphone with shock-mounted capsule, humbucking coil and dent-resistant grille for high-SPL stage use
The Electro-Voice ND76 is a large-diaphragm dynamic cardioid microphone built for vocal performance. Its tuned capsule delivers crisp, clear and balanced voice reproduction with excellent isolation from surrounding stage sound. The rugged die-cast zinc body and Memraflex grille withstand heavy touring use. It connects via a standard 3-pin XLR and requires no external power.
As a passive dynamic microphone the ND76 draws no power and adds no self-noise to the signal chain. A humbucking coil guards against line hum from nearby speaker cabinets or equipment racks. The shock-mounted capsule minimises handling noise so low-frequency bumps and thumps stay out of the PA. Maximum SPL exceeds 140 dB for loud sources without distortion.
The cardioid pattern focuses on sound arriving from the front while rejecting off-axis bleed, making it the right choice for a single vocalist on a loud stage. If the application needs figure-8 or omnidirectional pickup, or requires phantom-powered condenser sensitivity, this microphone does not meet that need.

Plug the 3-pin XLR into a balanced microphone input with phantom power disabled; the passive dynamic capsule needs no external voltage.
The Memraflex grille resists dents, but the internal shock-mounted capsule can wear over time and is not user-serviceable.
The capsule handles peaks above 140 dB SPL before audible distortion appears.
