elgato V316Silver USB 3.0 HDMI Capture Card 1080p 60FPS

What this capture card does

The elgato V316Silver is a USB 3.0 HDMI capture device that records or streams 1080p video at 60 frames per second. It connects game consoles, camcorders or other HDMI sources to a Windows or Mac computer for live broadcasting or local recording. No external power supply or driver installation is required. It is aimed at streamers and content creators who need a simple, portable capture solution.

Capture capacity and limits

The card accepts a 4K input signal up to 3840 by 2160 at 60 Hz but records and streams at a maximum of 1080p 60FPS in YUV format. A 3.5 mm microphone input allows external commentary to be mixed into the stream. System requirements call for an Intel Core i5-3400 or equivalent processor, NVIDIA GT630 or better graphics and 4 GB of RAM. Performance will drop if the host computer falls below those specifications.

Deciding specification

The single specification that determines suitability is the 1080p 60FPS capture ceiling over USB 3.0. Buyers who need 4K recording or higher frame rates at 1080p should look elsewhere. The device is incompatible with sources that require proprietary drivers or internal PCIe installation.
