The Emerson TSOS5-W is a single-pole occupancy sensor that automatically controls lights, fans or small motors by detecting infrared heat from human movement. It requires a neutral wire and fits a standard wall box, making it suitable for residential rooms such as garages, closets or utility spaces where hands-free operation is wanted.

Sustained Operation Behaviour

The sensor covers up to 980 square feet with a 180-degree field of view and offers adjustable sensitivity from 30 to 100 percent. Time-delay settings of 10, 20 or 30 minutes keep the load on during continuous occupancy, while a 15-second test mode helps verify coverage during installation. Auto, always-on and always-off modes are selectable at the switch.

Upgrade Context

This unit replaces a standard single-pole toggle where automatic on/off control is desired and a neutral conductor is present. It is not suitable for three-way or multi-location circuits, nor for loads exceeding 500 watts incandescent, 150 watts LED or CFL, 500 VA fluorescent or 1/8 HP motor. A wall plate is sold separately.
