Front-panel upgrade for 3.5" bays
This internal card reader converts a spare 3.5" floppy bay into two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port, an SD slot and a Micro SD slot. It is aimed at desktop builders who want fast front-panel access to memory cards and extra USB connections without opening the case each time.
Requires a USB 3.0 20-pin motherboard header
The hub connects to a single internal USB 3.0 20-pin header on the motherboard; without that header the unit cannot function. No driver installation is needed for Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP, Mac OS X, Linux or Chrome OS.
Tool-free mounting with one screw bag supplied
The unit slides into the bay and is secured with the included screws, then plugs into the 20-pin header. The only common issue is discovering the motherboard lacks a spare USB 3.0 header, which makes installation impossible.

Questions about this item
What real-world transfer speed does the 5 Gbps rating deliver when I copy photos from an SD card?
The USB 3.0 interface caps at 5 Gbps, so large sequential reads from a fast SD or Micro SD card will approach that ceiling, while random small-file copies run slower.
Does the front-panel USB-C port run at full USB 3.1 Gen 1 speed or fall back to USB 2.0?
The Type-C port is specified as USB 3.1 Gen 1, matching the 5 Gbps lane shared with the two Type-A ports and the card slots.
Will this unit fit my case if the only free bay is a standard 3.5″ floppy opening?
Yes — it is built for a 3.5″ floppy bay and mounts with the included screw kit; a single USB 20-pin motherboard header is required for power and data.
