Cooling Method and Compatibility

The KLIM Tempest extracts hot air directly from the laptop exhaust instead of blowing air underneath. It fits laptops up to 17 inches with side or rear vents and includes three rubber sleeves, fastening plates, hooks and foam pads for a secure seal.

Controls and Portability

A front display and three buttons provide automatic temperature-based fan control or manual selection across 13 speed levels. The unit weighs 4.2 oz and measures 5.2 by 11 by 17.3 cm, so it fits in a palm and travels easily.

Mounting Limits

The supplied clamps only grip laptop bases between 13 mm and 27 mm thick. Devices outside that range cannot be secured with the included hardware, and the vacuum seal relies on a matching exhaust port.

Questions about this item

How often do the three 140 mm fans need cleaning or replacement under normal use?

The fans are rated at 4000 RPM maximum; dust buildup on the blades will appear first, so clean the intake grilles every few months with compressed air — no user-replaceable fan modules are mentioned.

What limits continuous operation first — motor heat, power draw or the 13-speed controller?

The unit draws 0.1 kilograms equivalent power and runs from a single USB port; the 13 manual levels let you trade airflow for lower motor stress, so thermal throttling of the motor is the practical ceiling.

How loud and hot does the cooler get when running all day at 4000 RPM?

At top speed the 4000 RPM motor moves high air volume through the ABS housing; the supplier notes the cooler weighs only 4.2 oz and fits in a palm, so surface heat stays low but audible fan noise is noticeable.
