Server Storage Upgrade

This 3.5-inch SAS hard drive kit delivers 4TB of storage at 7200 RPM over a 12Gb/s interface. It is built for Dell PowerEdge 14G and 15G rack servers plus 15G tower models. Epoch Upgrades tests every unit for full OEM compatibility.

Capacity-Focused Server Builders

The drive suits administrators who need high-capacity bulk storage in supported Dell chassis. It is not for workstations or PCs that lack a 12Gb/s SAS backplane or the required drive carriers.

12Gb/s SAS Interface

The 12Gb/s SAS connection is the single specification that determines fit. The host must provide this exact interface and physical 3.5-inch bay support for the drive to function.

Questions about this item

How does the 7200 RPM speed affect real-world server workloads?

The 7200 RPM spindle delivers consistent throughput for mixed read-write workloads typical in Dell PowerEdge 14 and 15 generation servers, sustaining performance across R640, R740, R750 and T550 configurations.

What does the SAS 12Gb/s interface limit in practice?

The SAS 12Gb/s link caps maximum transfer rate at the controller level, so actual throughput depends on the backplane and RAID card in your PowerEdge R650, R750xa or T350 chassis.

Will the 3.5 inch form factor fit my Dell PowerEdge hot-swap bay?

Yes, the 3.5 inch drive kit matches the standard carrier dimensions for hot-swap bays in PowerEdge 14G and 15G rack and tower models including R440, R550 and T150.
