Wired Aluminum Keyboard for Mac

The Matias FK318S replaces Apple's discontinued wired USB keyboard with a silver aluminum frame and white keycaps. It connects through a USB 2.0 cable and includes a two-port USB 2.0 hub for additional peripherals. The full layout provides a numeric keypad and standard Mac function keys for media and system controls.

Sustained typing with volume dial precision

A dedicated volume control dial on the top edge allows finer adjustment than function-row keys alone. The wired USB 2.0 link avoids wireless latency or battery management during long sessions. The aluminum construction resists flex under continuous use, keeping key feel consistent.

Check USB ports and Mac layout expectations

Verify your Mac has an available USB-A port or a suitable adapter for the USB 2.0 plug. Confirm the two-port hub meets the power needs of any devices you plan to connect through it. Ensure the Mac-specific function key layout matches your workflow before ordering.

Questions about this item

Does the wired USB 2.0 connection keep power draw low enough that the keyboard stays cool during all-day use?

The keyboard draws power only through its USB 2.0 cable and has no active cooling, so it remains at room temperature during continuous operation.

What host port must my Mac provide for the keyboard and its built-in two-port hub to function?

Your Mac needs a single USB 2.0 Type-A port; the keyboard plugs in there and then offers two additional USB 2.0 ports for other devices.

Will the volume dial and Mac-specific function keys work on an older Mac that only has USB 2.0 ports?

Yes, the keyboard uses standard USB 2.0 HID protocols, so the volume dial and all Mac-labelled function keys operate on any Mac with USB 2.0 support.
