Medical-grade power strip for patient-care areas

The Ergotron 97-466-214 provides four hospital-grade NEMA 5-15R outlets rated at 15 A and 120 V. An 8 ft cord with a NEMA 5-15P plug connects the strip to a standard branch circuit. UL 1363A certification confirms compliance for use in patient-vicinity locations such as clinics, imaging centres and laboratories.

Replaces basic office strips in clinical settings

Standard commercial strips lack hospital-grade receptacles and the UL 1363A listing required near patients. The upgrade is justified whenever equipment must meet healthcare electrical-safety codes or when a facility audit flags non-compliant power distribution. The integrated 15 A circuit breaker adds over-current protection without relying on the branch panel alone.

Verify outlet type and mounting space before

Confirm that your devices use NEMA 5-15P plugs; the strip does not accept other connector styles. The chassis measures 13.8 in wide, 2.5 in deep and 1.5 in high, so check that the intended mounting surface or cart rail accommodates those dimensions. Ensure the 8 ft cord reaches the nearest receptacle without strain or daisy-chaining.

Questions about this item

How much clearance does the 13.8-inch wide strip need on a cart shelf?

The unit measures 13.8 inches wide by 2.5 inches deep by 1.5 inches high, so allow at least that footprint plus room for the NEMA 5-15P plug to exit.

Which step do installers often miss when mounting this strip on a medical cart?

Secure the strip with its built-in mounting features, then verify the 15 A circuit breaker is seated before plugging the 8 ft cord into a 120 V 60 Hz supply.

When should the hospital-grade receptacles be inspected or replaced?

Inspect the four NEMA 5-15R outlets during routine equipment checks; replace the strip if any receptacle shows wear, damage, or fails to hold a plug securely.
