Non-contact infrared thermometer

The Erickhill Rookmax measures surface temperature from a safe distance using a laser pointer for precise aiming. It suits HVAC technicians, cooks, automotive DIYers and anyone needing quick checks on hot, moving or hard-to-reach objects without physical contact.

Power and measurement setup

The unit runs on two AAA batteries and includes a 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio that allows reliable readings from roughly 14 to 36 centimetres away. Adjustable emissivity from 0 to 1 lets you tune the sensor for shiny metal, cast iron, stone, wood, plastic or food surfaces so one tool fits many jobs.

Sustained-use behaviour

A wide range of -58°F to 1472°F (-50°C to 800°C) covers freezer checks through to high-heat automotive work, while the colour LCD stays readable in low light during extended sessions. The device is designed for inanimate surfaces only and cannot replace a medical thermometer for human use.

Questions about this item

How close must I stand to hit the 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio on the Erickhill Rookmax?

The 12:1 ratio means you can measure from roughly 14 cm or 36 cm away and still cover a spot one-twelfth that distance wide.

How hot does the dark-green infrared gun get during continuous scanning?

It is a battery-powered handheld with no internal fan, so the housing stays near ambient temperature even after hours of use.

What power source must I have ready before the thermometer works?

Two AAA batteries are required; they are not included in the box.
