USB 3.0 A Male to Male Cable 2m

This two-metre cable links a USB 3.0 Type-A peripheral to a computer for high-speed file transfer. It supports SuperSpeed rates up to 5 Gbps and remains backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 ports. Gold-plated connectors, bare copper conductors and foil plus braid shielding ensure reliable, error-free data transmission. Molded strain relief and grip treads add durability and easy handling.

Suits external drives printers cameras not two PCs

The cable works with hard drive enclosures, printers, modems, cameras and similar SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Type-A devices. It is plug-and-play with no driver required. It does not support connecting two computers directly, so buyers needing PC-to-PC links should look elsewhere. Backwards compatibility lets USB 3.0 peripherals run on legacy USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 hosts at the slower speeds of those ports.

5 Gbps SuperSpeed decides fit

The single specification that determines suitability is the 5 Gbps SuperSpeed USB 3.0 rating. If the peripheral and host both have USB 3.0 Type-A ports this cable will deliver the full 10x speed advantage over USB 2.0. If either end is limited to USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 the connection will fall back to those slower rates.

Questions about this item

What type of USB port must my peripheral already have to use this cable?

The peripheral needs a USB 3.0 Type A female port because this cable has USB 3.0 A male connectors on both ends.

Will this cable still work if I plug it into an older USB 2.0 port on my computer?

Yes, the cable is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 ports, so it will function at the older port's speed.

How can I confirm the cable is delivering SuperSpeed performance after connecting my drive?

Check the transfer speed in your operating system; a USB 3.0 connection should report up to 5 Gbps while a USB 2.0 link will show a lower rate.
