What this product is

This two-pack supplies black USB 3.0 extension cables that add 1.5ft of reach from a Type-A male plug to a Type-A female port. The cables suit desktop or laptop users who need extra length for VR headsets, game consoles, flash drives, card readers, external drives, keyboards, mice, printers, scanners or cameras.

What to check on your existing setup

Verify that the host device provides a standard USB Type-A port and that the peripheral you plan to extend also uses a Type-A connector. The link operates at up to 5Gbps when both ends support USB 3.0, and falls back to 480 Mbps on USB 2.0, 1.1 or 1.0 ports. No driver installation is required on any supported system.

How it fits into a build

Each extender has a male Type-A connector for the host and a female Type-A receptacle for the device cable, letting you route the connection away from cramped rear I/O panels. Tin-plated copper conductors, gold-plated contacts and foil-plus-braid shielding protect signal integrity, while a braided metal wire core and PVC jacket resist pulling and abrasion. The connectors are rated for more than 10000 insertion cycles, so repeated plugging will not wear out the host port.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and do I need any extra cables?

The pack contains two USB 3.0 Type A male-to-female extension cables, each 1.5 ft long. They plug directly into an existing USB cable or device, so no additional cables are required.

Which length should I choose for my setup?

This listing only offers the 1.5 ft version in a two-pack. If you need a longer reach, a different length would have to be sourced separately.

What does the 5 Gbps rating mean when I plug it into my computer?

With a USB 3.0 port the cable supports up to 5 Gbps — ten times the 480 Mbps of USB 2.0 — and it falls back to USB 2.0, 1.1 or 1.0 speeds on older ports.
