Ni-MH chemistry limits

The cell uses nickel-metal hydride chemistry rated at 7.2 V with a capacity of 20 mAh and an energy rating of 0.14 Wh. Ni-MH packs self-discharge faster than lithium types and do not support rapid charge protocols found in newer systems. Users needing higher capacity or lithium-ion voltage levels must choose a different chemistry.

Capacity decides fit

The decisive specification is the 20 mAh capacity at 7.2 V, which determines whether the pack can power the target Solo models for the intended runtime. A lower or higher milliampere-hour rating would change the physical fit or the run time in these specific machines.

Questions about this item

Is the 20 mAh version the only capacity available for my Gateway Solo?

Yes, this replacement is offered in a single 20 mAh capacity at 7.2 V.

What runtime can I expect from the 0.14 Wh rating in daily use?

The 0.14 Wh pack supplies a small standby current; actual minutes depend on the notebook's CMOS draw.

Does the 7.2 V Ni-MH pack use a proprietary connector or a standard interface?

It connects through the original Gateway Solo battery header; no industry-standard bus is involved.
