Replacement Ni-MH pack

This 7.2 V 1800 mAh nickel-metal-hydride battery replaces Kenwood KNB-17N, KNB-21N, KNB-17A, KNB-52N and KNB-16A packs. It matches the original voltage, capacity and 12.96 Wh energy rating. Certified to ISO 9001, RoHS, CE, UN 38.3 and MSDS standards.

Radio operators needing a direct swap

Suits owners of TK-290 or FuG 11b handhelds who want a new factory-spec cell with over-charge, over-discharge, over-voltage and short-circuit protection. Not for users requiring lithium-ion chemistry, higher capacity or a different voltage platform.

7.2 V 1800 mAh Ni-MH chemistry

The nominal voltage and milliampere-hour rating decide fit: the radio must accept a 7.2 V nickel-metal-hydride pack of this capacity. Verify the part number list before ordering.

Questions about this item

When should the 1800mAh Ni-MH pack be replaced?

Replace the pack when it no longer holds a useful charge after repeated cycles; the manufacturer rates it for one year of normal use.

What limits runtime during continuous transmit on the TK-290?

The 1800mAh capacity at 7.2V delivers 12.96Wh, so the capacity ceiling is reached before voltage sag or thermal limits.

Does the battery heat up noticeably during all-day operation?

Ni-MH chemistry stays cool under typical duty cycles; no active cooling is required and the pack meets UN38.3 safety testing.
