Mercenaries DLC for 4th Generation Warfare

This downloadable add-on expands the base strategy game with mercenary mechanics. It is designed for players who already own 4th Generation Warfare on Steam and want deeper military management options. The DLC requires a Steam account for activation and runs on Windows PCs. Buyers in blocked regions listed in the specifications cannot activate the code.

Steam activation and base game requirement

Installation is handled through the Steam client once the online code is redeemed. A 64-bit processor and operating system are required to run the content. The main issue arises if the base game is missing from the Steam library, as the DLC will not launch without it. Region restrictions also prevent activation in several countries listed in the product data.

Extended campaign management with mercenary units

The DLC adds a layer of persistent unit management across long sessions. Players contract groups for weeks or months, tracking reputation and cost over time. Secret headquarters and covert deployments introduce ongoing strategic variables rather than one-off battles. Sustained play involves balancing mercenary effectiveness against rising prices and the risk of international exposure.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the Mercenaries DLC is working after activating the Steam code?

Launch Steam, confirm the DLC appears under the base game 4th Generation Warfare in your library, then start the game and check that the new mercenary groups are available for hire in the recruitment interface.

What comes with the purchase and what else is needed to play?

You receive a Steam activation code for the Mercenaries DLC; the base game 4th Generation Warfare must already be owned on the same Steam account, and a 64-bit Windows system with a Steam client is required.

Which version of the DLC should I choose for the full mercenary feature set?

Only one version exists — model 74874 released in 2022 — and it includes all dozen mercenary groups, secret HQs, reputation scaling and contract durations from weeks to months.
