18" QHD+ 240Hz gaming laptop

The 18 inch display runs at 2560 by 1600 pixels with a 240 Hz refresh rate, driven by an RTX 5090 graphics card with 24 GB GDDR7 memory. An Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor provides 24 cores and a maximum turbo frequency of 5.5 GHz. The system ships with Windows 11 Pro and 16 GB of DDR5 5600 MHz memory in dual channel.

PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe storage limit

The 1 TB M.2 drive uses a PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe interface, so sequential throughput is bounded by that generation's lane speed. The graphics card connects internally through the same PCIe fabric, sharing total platform bandwidth with the SSD and other peripherals. No faster storage interface is present in this chassis.

Factory-applied Gelid GC Extreme thermal paste

HIDevolution applies Gelid GC Extreme on the CPU and GPU before shipment, replacing the standard compound to lower core temperatures under load. The laptop arrives with the latest stable BIOS and drivers installed after burn-in stress testing. Memory and storage upgrades later require removing the bottom case screws and may void the custom thermal work if the heatsinks are disturbed.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 16 GB DDR5 configuration or add more memory for the 24-core Ultra 9 290HX Plus?

The 16 GB dual-channel kit at 5600 MHz feeds the 24-core processor well for gaming and heavy multitasking; extra modules only help if you run virtual machines or large content-creation projects.

What does the 5.5 GHz max turbo on the Ultra 9 290HX Plus deliver inside this 18-inch chassis?

The 5.5 GHz peak clock lets the 24-core CPU hit high single-thread speeds in bursts, while Gelid GC Extreme paste and the metal case keep thermals in check during sustained loads.

How fast is the 1 TB PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe drive in real use?

The PCIe 4.0 x4 interface caps sequential throughput near 7 GB/s, so game loads, boot and large file transfers run at the drive’s rated speed without bottleneck.
