1000BASE-LX SFP transceiver 10-pack

The Extreme Networks 10072H is a ten-pack of 1 Gbps SFP transceivers built for 1000BASE-LX links. Network engineers use them to populate multiple switch or router ports with long-wavelength optics in a single purchase.

Distance limit of 1000BASE-LX optics

The 1000BASE-LX standard supports gigabit Ethernet over single-mode fibre up to 10 kilometres. It does not reach the longer distances defined for 1000BASE-ZX or the shorter, multi-mode ranges of 1000BASE-SX.

Replaces individual SFP purchases

Buying the 10-pack replaces ten separate module orders and reduces per-port cost for new deployments or spares. The jump is worth it when a project requires ten or more identical LX interfaces at once.

Questions about this item

Should I buy the 10-pack or individual 10072H modules?

The 10-pack supplies ten 1000BASE-LX SFP transceivers in one order, matching the 10072H model exactly.

What does the 1 Gbps transfer rate deliver in a live switch?

Each transceiver runs at 1 Gbps full-duplex over single-mode fibre, giving 1 Gbps throughput per populated port.

Does the 1000BASE-LX interface limit link distance?

The 1000BASE-LX standard supports up to 10 km on single-mode fibre at 1 Gbps.
