What It Is

This is a limited-edition gold key replica from the Borderlands series, finished in matt 24k gold plating. It is individually numbered as one of 5,000 units produced worldwide. The piece is officially licensed and measures 100 x 35 x 6mm. It appeals to collectors of gaming memorabilia and fans of the franchise.

Upgrade Context

It replaces the digital Gold Key code that unlocked Golden Chests in Sanctuary for players who pre-ordered Borderlands 2. The physical replica serves as a permanent display item rather than a consumable in-game code. The jump is worth it for enthusiasts who want a tangible, numbered collectible that commemorates the original promotion.

Practical Limits

The item is a non-functional metal replica with no electronic components or interactive features. It cannot redeem codes, unlock content or interface with any game platform. Its utility is limited to display or collection purposes only. Buyers seeking in-game currency, digital unlocks or playable hardware should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What are the exact dimensions of the 24k gold-plated key?

The key measures 100 x 35 x 6 mm, making it a compact display piece.

How do I mount this individually numbered replica for display?

No mounting hardware is included; the flat 6 mm profile allows it to sit on a shelf or adhere with generic stands.

Will the matt gold plating wear off if I handle the key regularly?

The 24k gold finish is a surface plating; frequent contact can accelerate wear, so minimal handling preserves the appearance.
