17-inch MacBook Pro replacement fan

This 5V 0.45A KSB0605HC fan is built for the 17-inch MacBook Pro. It serves owners whose original cooler has failed or become noisy. The part matches the voltage and current draw specified by Apple for that chassis.

Straightforward swap for experienced users

Installation requires opening the bottom case, disconnecting the logic-board header and removing the old fan assembly. The connector is keyed but fragile; forcing it bends pins and kills the new unit. Thermal paste on the heatsink must be cleaned and reapplied or temperatures will stay high.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the KSB0605HC fan is spinning correctly after installing it in my 17-inch MacBook Pro?

Power on the laptop and listen for the fan's operation; the 5 V 0.45 A rating means it should spin smoothly and move air through the vents without rattling or grinding noises.

What comes in the box with the KSB0605HC and do I need any extra parts to fit it?

The package contains the replacement fan unit only; no mounting screws, thermal paste or cables are included, so reuse the original fixings from the old cooler.
