Compact 40 mm server fan

The AD0412HB-B5BDS is a 40 mm square frame fan built for 12 V server and workstation chassis. Its 4-wire PWM connection allows precise speed control from the motherboard or fan controller. The slim 28 mm depth fits tight rack-mount enclosures and small-form-factor cases where larger fans cannot be installed. It targets system integrators and IT staff who need reliable spot cooling in dense equipment.

Four-wire control and thin profile

The 4-wire header supports automatic temperature-based regulation without extra wiring harnesses. A 0.60 A draw at 12 V keeps power demand modest for redundant power supplies. The 28 mm thickness leaves clearance for low-profile heatsinks or daughter boards mounted directly behind the fan wall. Builders needing higher static pressure at larger diameters or alternative voltage rails will need a different model.

Questions about this item

What does the 4-wire PWM interface control on this 12V fan?

The fourth wire carries a PWM signal that lets the motherboard vary the fan speed precisely while the 12V line supplies constant power.

Will the 40x40x28mm frame fit a standard 40mm mounting pattern?

Yes, the 40mm square footprint matches the common 40mm hole spacing, and the 28mm thickness is the usual depth for server-style fans.
