Compact 12 V case fan

The Fans D40SM-12C is a 40 mm square case fan that runs on 12 V DC and draws 0.08 A. Its 2-wire power connection provides simple on-off operation without speed reporting or PWM control. The 20 mm thickness fits tight server and small-form-factor chassis where larger fans cannot be installed.

Suits space-constrained builds

This fan suits builders who need a low-profile 40 mm cooler for rack servers, embedded appliances or slim desktop cases. Buyers who require variable speed control, higher airflow or a larger frame should look at alternative cooling solutions.

Questions about this item

Does this 12 V fan need a 12 V header on my motherboard or controller?

Yes, it runs on 12 V DC and draws 0.08 A, so it must connect to a 12 V fan header or a compatible 12 V power source.

Will the 2-wire connector work with a 3-pin or 4-pin header on my older board?

The fan uses a 2-wire plug; it fits on 3-pin or 4-pin headers but runs at full speed without PWM or tachometer feedback.
