Compatible ThinkPad models

This replacement fan and heatsink assembly is built for the ThinkPad T430 and T430i series with discrete graphics. It does not fit the T430S, T430U or any other model. The part matches compatible codes 04W3269, 04W3270, 04X3788, 0B41088 and 0B41089.

5-pin connector constraint

ThinkPad T430 and T430i units use different fan connectors across production runs. This unit carries a 5-pin connector; other revisions may use 3-pin, 4-pin or 6-pin versions. Buyers must compare the connector on their original fan before ordering.

Discrete-graphics requirement

The heatsink layout is designed only for configurations that include a discrete graphics chip. Systems relying on integrated graphics have a different thermal design and cannot use this assembly. No other laptop series or form factor is supported.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise should I expect from this 5-pin fan running continuously in a ThinkPad T430 with discrete graphics?

The fan is built to match the original 04W3269 and 04W3270 parts for discrete-graphics T430 and T430i models, so thermal output and acoustic profile mirror the factory unit when the laptop is under sustained load.

Which connectors and mounting points must my T430 already have for this 5-pin heatsink assembly to install without modification?

Your board needs the 5-pin fan header used on discrete-graphics T430 and T430i units; the screw pattern and pipe routing follow the 04X3788 and 0B41088/0B41089 designs, so no extra brackets or adapters are required.

Will this 5-pin cooler work if I keep my existing T430 motherboard and only replace the fan assembly?

Yes, provided the motherboard is from a discrete-graphics T430 or T430i with the matching 5-pin header; it will not fit T430S, T430U or 3-pin, 4-pin or 6-pin variants.
