Industrial 170 mm AC axial fan
The ebmpapst S2D170-BA04-06 is a 170 mm outer-rotor axial fan designed for equipment cooling in industrial and server environments. It operates directly from three-phase AC mains at 230 V or 400 V, drawing between 0.09 A and 0.23 A depending on wiring and voltage. The integrated motor keeps the assembly compact for space-constrained chassis.
45 W at 2750 rpm with thermal protection
At 50 Hz the fan runs at 2750 rpm consuming 45 W; at 60 Hz speed rises to 3100 rpm with 43 W draw. Impedance protection and a built-in thermal overload protector guard the motor against phase failure or electrical overload. Ambient temperature range spans -25 °C to 70 °C at 50 Hz and up to 90 °C at 60 Hz.
Three-phase wiring for Y or delta connection
The fan requires a three-phase supply and can be wired in either star (Y) or delta configuration as shown in the data. No PWM or voltage-speed control is provided; speed is fixed by line frequency. The braided steel blades with black coating and fully integrated motor free up mounting space in dense enclosures.

Questions about this item
Will the 170 mm frame and 230 VAC wiring fit my existing 230 V chassis fan headers?
The fan is built for 230 VAC operation with a 170 mm outer-rotor frame, so it matches standard 230 V chassis cut-outs and can be wired directly to a compatible 230 V header or supply.
How can I confirm the fan is running at the rated 2750 RPM after installation?
At 50 Hz the motor settles at 2750 RPM with a 0.23 A draw; measuring current near 0.23 A or hearing the steady 2750 RPM tone confirms correct operation.
Does the package include a power cord or mounting screws, or must I source them separately?
The unit is supplied as the bare axial fan only; a 230 VAC power lead, connector and mounting hardware are not included and must be sourced separately.
