A portable Blu-ray and HD DVD player with dual USB 3.0 and Type-C ports, 8× DVD and 24× CD read speeds, and a slim 1.8 cm profile
This new FANTEC drive reads Blu-ray and HD DVD discs and writes to CDs and DVDs. It connects through a single cable that fits both USB 3.0 and USB Type-C ports. The unit is 1.8 cm thick and weighs approximately .4 kg, and it ships with a fleece pouch for travel. It is aimed at laptop or desktop owners who need an optical drive on the move.
The drive uses the USB 3.0 specification for up to 5 Gbps throughput. Maximum DVD read speed is 8x and maximum CD read speed is 24x. Bus power alone may be insufficient on some desktop front-panel ports; the supplier notes that the rear port should be used to avoid power shortage. TVs, car players, Chromebooks, Surface Pro devices, tablets and phones are not supported.
Verify that your computer has a free USB Type-A or USB Type-C socket and runs Windows XP, 2003, Vista, 7, 8, 10 or 11, Linux, or any Mac OS version. Ensure you can supply enough bus power or use a powered hub if the port is current-limited. The drive does not support Blu-ray or HD DVD writing, so buyers who need to author those discs should look elsewhere.

The drive includes both a USB 3.0 and a Type-C port so you can use whichever matches your computer without an adapter.
An 8x DVD read rate supplies data well above the bitrate of standard video so playback starts quickly and stays smooth.
The USB 3.0 Gen 1 connection caps the link at 5 Gbps, which is the maximum throughput the drive can reach.
