Fervit M.2 2230 M-Key Adapter
This new Fervit adapter converts an M.2 2230 M-Key slot into an OCuLink SFF-8612 interface. It allows users to connect an NVMe SSD or an eGPU graphics card via an optional cable. The card transmits PCI Express 4.0 signals using the NVME protocol. It expands the system by one SFF-8612 OCuLink port for external devices.
Sustained Signal Integrity
The adapter maintains PCI Express 4.0 signal quality over the OCuLink SFF-8612 link during continuous data transfers. It supports the NVM Express 1.2 specification for consistent NVME storage performance. The vertical host design provides a direct connection path without active components. This passive layout avoids thermal throttling under prolonged workloads.
64Gbps Data Rate Limit
The single specification that decides suitability is the maximum data transfer rate of 64Gbps. This bandwidth ceiling defines the peak throughput for any attached NVME drive or eGPU. Builders requiring higher bandwidth must select a different interconnect solution. The 67-pin M.2 Key M male connector mates directly with the host slot.

Questions about this item
Does the adapter add fan noise or heat when an NVMe drive runs continuously?
The board is a passive signal converter with no active cooling, so it adds no fan noise and negligible heat beyond the drive itself.
What cable do I need to connect an NVMe U.2 SSD or eGPU to the OCuLink SFF-8612 port?
An OCuLink SFF-8612 to SFF-8611 or U.2 cable is required; the adapter only provides the female SFF-8612 receptacle.
Will a PCIe 3.0 M.2 2230 slot still work with this PCIe 4.0 adapter?
Yes, the adapter is backward compatible and will operate at PCIe 3.0 speeds when installed in a PCIe 3.0 M.2 Key M slot.
