What this reader does
The Fervit USB 3.0 Micro SD SDXC TF Card Reader Adapter transfers data at up to 5 Gbps over a USB 3.0 connection. It accepts Micro SD, SDXC and TF cards for quick file access. No external power supply is required because it draws power directly from the USB port. The memory card itself is not included.
How it fits a build
Plug the adapter into any free USB 3.0 port on a desktop or laptop running Windows ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10 or Mac OS. It needs no driver installation on those systems and leaves internal drive bays and expansion slots untouched. Builders who need to read full-size SD cards or who require multiple simultaneous card slots will need a different solution.
Thermals noise power
The device runs from the host USB port with no fan or moving parts, so it adds no audible noise to the system. Power draw stays within standard USB 3.0 limits during normal transfers. No additional cooling or power-headroom planning is necessary for typical use.

Questions about this item
How fast can the USB 3.0 interface move data when I copy large files all day?
The adapter tops out at 5 Gbps, so sustained throughput will be limited by that bus ceiling and the card's own write speed.
Does the reader get hot or draw extra power during non-stop transfers?
It draws all power from the USB port with no external supply, so heat stays low and there is no separate power brick to manage.
What must I already have before this reader will work?
A free USB 3.0 port on a Windows ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10 or Mac OS machine plus a Micro SD, SDXC or TF card.
