Fervit USB 3.1 Front Panel Socket to USB 3.0 20Pin Header Adapter
Converts a motherboard USB 3.0 20-pin header into a USB 3.1 front-panel socket for cases with newer ports
- Adds a USB 3.1 front-panel port using an existing USB 3.0 header
- Converts a motherboard 20-pin header to a USB 3.1 header without extra cables
- Supports up to 5 Gbit/s throughput for fast front-panel data transfers
- Works with AM4 and 2066 socket boards that lack a native USB 3.1 header
- Compact vertical design plugs directly into the header, no additional attachments needed
USB 3.1 front-panel adapter for USB 3.0 headers
This Fervit adapter converts a motherboard USB 3.0 20-pin header into a vertical USB 3.1 front-panel socket. It targets builders whose cases include a USB 3.1 Type-A or Type-C port but whose motherboards lack a native USB 3.1 header. The compact plug-in design requires no extra cables or brackets.
Converts existing header to USB 3.1 without new
The adapter plugs directly into any USB 3.0 header that supplies two USB 3.0 lanes and presents a vertical USB 3.1 front-panel header to the case. No additional attachments, power connections or software are needed; the conversion is purely passive and preserves the header’s existing pinout.
Delivers up to 5 Gbit/s over a single USB 3.1 port
The converted header provides a full USB 3.1 port operating at up to 5 Gbit/s, matching the throughput of the source USB 3.0 lanes. It comfortably handles external SSDs, docks and high-speed flash drives, but cannot exceed the 5 Gbit/s limit of the underlying USB 3.0 header or supply a second simultaneous USB 3.1 port.

Questions about this item
Will the 20-pin header connector wear out from repeated case swaps?
The vertical 20-pin male header is rated for standard motherboard insertion cycles; avoid excessive force when removing it to preserve pin alignment.
Does the 5 Gbit/s limit of the USB 3.0 header throttle a USB 3.1 front-panel port?
Yes, the adapter bundles two USB 3.0 lanes into one USB 3.1 header, so throughput caps at 5 Gbit/s.
Does the adapter draw extra power or generate heat when the front USB 3.1 port runs all day?
It is a passive pin converter with no active circuitry, so it adds no measurable power draw or heat.
