Purpose and fit
This cable lets owners of Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon models with an 11.0×4.5 mm DC barrel port use a 65 W or 87 W USB-C PD charger instead of the original brick. The integrated trigger negotiates 18 V or 20 V output, so the laptop receives the voltage it expects. It is not for devices that only accept 5 V over USB-C or that use a different barrel diameter.
Connector quality and daily use
The USB-C female end accepts any standard 65 W or 87 W PD charger, while the rectangular 11.0×5.0 mm male plug mates securely with the laptop socket. A moulded strain-relief protects the junction during frequent connect and disconnect cycles. The trigger circuit is embedded in the USB-C housing, keeping the cable profile slim for travel bags.
Power behaviour
The adapter requests 18 V or 20 V from the charger and passes that voltage directly to the laptop; 5 V is not supported. The charger must be rated at or above the laptop’s power draw, otherwise the trigger will not negotiate the required voltage. No active cooling is present, so the cable runs warm only under sustained high-load charging.
