What this adapter is

This is a USB 5.0 male-to-male extension adapter with an opposite U-shaped back-angled connector. It carries data at up to 80Gbps and delivers up to 240W of power. The angled design fits tight port clearances. The aluminium alloy shell protects the plug.

Who it suits and who it does not

It suits users who need to extend a USB-C connection while supporting 16K@30Hz, 8K@60Hz, 5K@60Hz or 4K@120Hz video on DP Alternate Mode monitors. It also suits charging at 28V/5A, 20V/5A or 5A profiles. Buyers whose monitor lacks DP Alternate Mode on its USB-C port cannot use the video function. Buyers who need a straight cable or a female port should look elsewhere.

The specification that decides fit

The single decisive specification is the 80Gbps data rate combined with 240W power delivery over a USB 5.0 male-to-male angled connector. If your host, cable and display all operate at USB 5.0 or USB 4.0 speeds and require up to 240W charging, this adapter matches that requirement. If any link in the chain tops out at a lower speed or wattage, the adapter will still work but will not raise the ceiling.

Questions about this item

Do I need a monitor with a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode to get video output?

Yes, the adapter requires the monitor's USB-C port to support DisplayPort Alternate Mode to deliver up to 16K at 30 Hz, 8K at 60 Hz, 5K at 60 Hz or 4K at 120 Hz.

Will this adapter work with my existing USB4 laptop and USB-C dock?

The adapter is backward compatible with USB4 and USB 4.0 devices, so it will function with a USB4 laptop and a USB-C dock that uses the same standard.

How can I confirm the adapter is delivering the full 80 Gbps data rate after setup?

Connect a high-speed SSD or docking station and run a disk benchmark; sustained read or write speeds approaching 80 Gbps indicate the link is operating at its rated USB 5.0 performance.
