This copper SFP transceiver delivers 1.25 Gb/s data rates over RJ-45 using Cat.5 UTP cable up to 100 metres. It targets network engineers upgrading switches, routers or servers with copper Gigabit links in commercial temperature environments.

Hot-pluggable SFP MSA module

Installation is hot-pluggable and follows the SFP MSA form factor with auto-detect MDI/MDI-X on the RJ-45 port. The module requires host equipment that supports SGMII signalling; without the correct vendor coding it will not link, so the brand and model of the host must be supplied before ordering.

100 metre reach on Cat.5 UTP

The transceiver handles 10/100/1000BASE-T traffic with 1000BASE-X and 1000BASE-T auto-negotiation on a single 3.3 V supply. It is not suited for fibre links, 10 GbE speeds or distances beyond 100 metres, and it cannot operate in hosts that lack SGMII support.
