Portable Bluetooth DAC and amplifier
The FiiO BTR17 is a compact USB DAC and headphone amplifier that connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.4 and also functions as a wired USB audio device. It is intended for listeners who want higher-quality output from a phone, tablet or computer without carrying a larger desktop unit.
Battery-bypass desktop mode
When desktop mode is enabled and the dedicated power input is connected to an adapter, the internal battery is bypassed so the unit draws power only from USB. This prevents over-charging and over-discharging while delivering up to 650 mW of output without draining the host device’s battery.
Compatibility checks before purchase
Verify that your source device supports Bluetooth 5.4 or the required codecs such as LDAC and aptX Lossless to use the wireless features fully. Confirm you have a free USB-C port for wired USB-DAC operation and that your headphones terminate in either a 3.5 mm unbalanced or 4.4 mm balanced plug to match the available outputs.

Questions about this item
How much heat does the BTR17 produce when used as a desktop DAC all day?
In desktop mode the BTR17 draws power from an external USB adapter so the internal battery is bypassed, keeping the unit cool during extended sessions.
What cables or adapters must I already own to connect the BTR17 to my phone and headphones?
You need a USB-C cable for the digital link and either a 3.5 mm or 4.4 mm headphone plug; the BTR17 provides both unbalanced and balanced outputs.
Will the BTR17 drive my older high-impedance headphones without extra amplification?
The THX AAA 78+ amp stage delivers up to 650 mW, giving ample headroom for most legacy high-impedance models through either the 3.5 mm or 4.4 mm jack.
