Portable DAC amp for wired headphones

The FiiO BTR7 is a portable DAC amp with Bluetooth 5.1 that adds high-resolution wireless audio to phones, PCs, cars or home systems. It serves listeners who want better sound quality from existing wired headphones without a bulky desktop unit.

Check your headphone jack and source

Verify that your headphones use a 3.5 mm or 4.4 mm plug to match the dual outputs. Confirm your source device supports LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD or AAC for the best wireless quality. For USB DAC mode, ensure the host can deliver PCM 384 kHz or DSD256 streams.

Dual ES9219C chips with balanced output

Each channel uses an ES9219C DAC paired with a low-pass filter and amplifier for detailed, dynamic playback. The 4.4 mm balanced jack reduces crosstalk compared to the 3.5 mm single-ended jack. Built-in cVc 8.0 microphone handles calls and in-line controls on CTIA earphones.

Questions about this item

Does the BTR7 come with any cables or adapters, or do I need to buy a USB cable and 4.4 mm balanced cable separately?

The BTR7 includes a USB-C cable for charging and USB DAC use; 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm headphone cables are not supplied and must be purchased separately.

Should I choose the 3.5 mm single-ended output or the 4.4 mm balanced output for my headphones?

Use the 4.4 mm balanced output with compatible headphones for lower noise and better channel separation; the 3.5 mm jack works with any standard headphones.

What does the 384 kHz / 32-bit PCM and DSD256 support mean when I use the BTR7 as a USB DAC with my laptop?

In USB DAC mode the dual ES9219C chips decode PCM up to 384 kHz / 32-bit and native DSD256, and with an MQA player the XMOS XUF208 handles up to 8× MQA rendering.
